I think a lot of people get confused as they think “hell” is a place with an eternal burning flame. Now look, do we really think Jesus was being consumed in “hell fire” as He taught the “spirits in prison?”
Brandon, I am somewhat confused about the resurrection. Specifically, what happens to our consciousness between death of our physical body, and the resurrection at our Lord’s 2nd coming.

We are all born, and we all pass away, but where do we go when we die? The Bible makes it very clear, we instantly return to God who created our spirit.
There were hundreds of millions of people before Jesus. Where did they go when they died? The Bible tells us, once we pass away, we return to God.
The bottomless pit is the prison of Satan and his angels. However, Scripture explains Satan accuses us before God. That means, this prison is in Heaven.
